Ever make a quote using the Estimating Guide and found it to be a little shy of the time it should take to do something? (The Mitchell1 Prodemand labor times a highly accurate, but never perfect – none of the guides are.)
To help offset these variables bump your times. Go to: Setup – Standard Tables – MarkUp and enter 15-20% on the Labor Guide. This will increase the labor hours when you use the Estimator.
There are 2 advantages to doing this:
- if you find that the job took much less time, you can give a nice surprise discount to your customer.
- If you find that the job did indeed need that extra time, you have saved yourself a phone call to sell more time and still make your customer happy by not doing so.
