Save time by using templates whenever you can! Your Manager SE system has templates all throughout it. These are there to make your life easier. You can put a template note, text message, email, common repairs and more.
When you find you are adding the same note over and over, you should look for the templated notes section under Setup, Standard Descriptions, then Notes. Some ways a templated note will help are:
- Entering warranty notes
- Recommendations
- DOT #’s
- And more
When you find you are building the same repair over and over, this is a great time to create a canned job. This will allow you to simply “right-click” your mouse and then choose from a list of common jobs you perform. Some examples of common canned jobs are:
- Oil change
- Tire rotation
- Alignment
- Smog
- And more
Texting! Every week I meet a shop that could save hours per month for themselves and their customers if they would simply send a templated message saying “your vehicle is ready at Shop Autorepair call or text to make arrangements”. Customers are telling you they do not want a call when a text will do. It sounds like this “can you text me when my vehicle is ready?” Texting will not take over the conversation, but it will allow you to save time, document the conversation, and make the it easier for your customers to do business with you. Some common text examples are:
- Your vehicle is ready…
- You have an upcoming appointment at…
- Call me back.
- We diagnosed your vehicle…
- Thanks for approving the repair of blank at $$$$ price.
When you send an email to your customer, use of Thunderbird or Outlook. You can then tell the Manager SE how you want the message to be. It will then attach the PDF to the email and enter the templated text for you.
